Each era of the show has a completely different art style and runtime, which might make it a bit jarring to some viewers. With that said, I present the recommended original viewing order: Originally Intended View Orderīee and Pupp圜at Season 1 īee and Pupp圜at: Lazy in Space Įven though this was the intended viewing order, it's not without it's drawbacks. It's not all bad, it has a great artstyle and expands on a few characters, but by many it's considered inferior to the original. Overall, the reboot episodes are generally seen as an unsatisfying mishmash of the first season, removing much of what made the show loveable in the first place. One of the most confusing additions is a plot point which wasn't originally seen until later in the season is now hastily revealed in episode 1. A later episode in the season references an event that never occurs in this version. A subtle plot point from the original pilot is changed to a intrusive, in-your-face exposition dump. One of the main characters voice actors voice changed during the production gap, making him sound much older in the first 3 episodes before suddenly going back to young in the remaining ones. Many of the most iconic and beloved lines, scenes, and characters were removed, replacing them with either different versions or nothing at all for seemingly no reason. Instead, they took all of the important information necessary to understand the rest of the season and reformatted it to fit these 3 episodes. Even though the combined runtime of these episodes is only a teeny bit under the runtime of season 1, the change in format from 6 minute shorts to 23 minute episodes made it impossible to just remake the episodes as they were. Due to the fact they have to retell a seasons worth of content in only three episodes, their pacing is very strange compared to the rest of the season. If you've been checking around the sub for a while, you'll notice a lot of people aren't too happy with the 3 reboot episodes. So, what's actually canon? And how should the show be viewed? Well. The latter 13 episodes of Lazy in Space were produced with just the original season in mind, but the first 3 episodes of Lazy in Space were made with the following 13 already complete. These events leave the timeline of the show in a bit of a strange place. Shortly after, Netflix picked up the series and requested 3 episodes be made for the beginning of Lazy in Space to recap the first season for those who hadn't seen it, essentially making Lazy in Space a reboot of Season 1. These episodes (called Lazy in Space) leaked in 2020. 13 more episodes were produced in the years following, by a new studio in a new art style. These episodes were released exclusively on a streaming service known as VRV, before all being uploaded to YouTube two years later. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Season 1, consisting of 10 episodes, came out in 2014. A bit of this is already covered in my original QnA thread but in a nutshell:īee & Pupp圜at released as a pilot in 2013. Over the past few days since the release of Bee and Pupp圜at: Lazy in Space on Netflix, there's been a lot of confusion and questions about what's canon to Lazy in Space and how the show should be viewed. If you or someone you know is having trouble figuring out what order to watch the show in, this post is for you. The following thread contains NO SPOILERS for Bee and Pupp圜at or Bee and Pupp圜at: Lazy in Space.
